Mayor Pro Tem Aguilar and Councilmember Gregory Plant Trees for California Clean Air Day at Two City Parks

In honor of California Clean Air Day, Mayor Pro Tem John Aguilar held a Tree Planting Ceremony at Century Park this afternoon while Councilmember Raymond Gregory held a similar event at Panorama Park. Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia’s office presented a Certificate of Recognition to Cathedral City for its efforts to mitigate greenhouse gases and help clean the air.

Trees play a pivotal role in reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) gases that lead to global warming through the natural process of photosynthesis. Trees absorb CO2 and other pollutant particulates and release pure oxygen back into our atomosphere. By planting a tree, we can help reverse global warming, improve the community’s health, and breathe much easier.

Both councilmembers asked those in attendance to sign the pledge to plant a tree or conduct activities that reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. You, too, can take the pledge to help clean California’s air and learn more ways to participate at www.CLEANAIRDAY.ORG.
