Due to a limited supply of the COVID-19 vaccine, Riverside University Health System (RUHS) stated that it may be between the recommend minimum wait time of 21 days for Pfizer and 28 days for Moderna and up to 42 days before a second dose of the vaccine can be administered to those who received their first dose. This delay does fit within the current CDC guidelines for receiving the second dose. Residents should get their second dose from the same provider who gave them the first dose. They should also stay with the same brand of vaccine for the first and second doses. If you received your first dose from a county clinic, then you will be contacted by RUHS through the method you requested (email or phone) when the vaccine and appointments are available.
As of February 6th, RUHS has given out 35,999 second doses and 212,636 first-time doses of the vaccine. If your minimum number of days for your vaccine has passed and you have not been contacted by email or phone to schedule your second dose, RUHS recommends that you call 2-1-1 on your phone and seek assistance. 2-1-1 operators are available to speak in Spanish.
