Mayor Raymond Gregory joined TKE Engineering and Tom Kirk, the executive director of the Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG), at the intersection of Ramon Road and Whispering Palm Trails as the new CV Sync was being installed in Cathedral City. CV Sync is a regional traffic control system that integrates all the traffic signals along major traffic arterials throughout the Coachella Valley. They include Highway 111 and Ramon Road in Cathedral City.
CV Sync is designed so that traffic signals communicate with each other and change colors in sync so that you are less likely to get stopped at each traffic light. The benefits of this new program allow cars to move along these routes smoothly and faster in time thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Another benefit that will hopefully be realized soon involves laying new high-speed broadband cable along these routes. This will eventually allow businesses and residences access to lighting speed internet connections for better productivity, increased commerce, and new jobs.
