At the city council meeting on Wednesday, John Corella, Director of Engineering and Public Works, announced that the City of Cathedral City’s Engineering Department won the 2022 Engineering Excellence Merit Award for the new Cathedral City Community Amphitheater. The award was presented by the American Council of Engineering Companies – California Division.
The new amphitheater has many engineering finishings such as nearly 2500 amps of electricity running underground and throughout the park to mitigate the need for temporary event power, origami-styled roofline for the main stage, sloped terraced lawn, walking paths, food truck lanes, concession stand, restrooms, and covered children’s play lot.
