Region 1200 of the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) and Dennis Keat Park in Cathedral City have been selected to host the annual area tournament representing five regions in the Coachella Valley. The tournament will take place from Feb. 5-17, 2024.
AYSO regions featured in the tournament include Desert Hot Springs, Palm Springs, La Quinta, Cathedral City, and Indio. The City’s Public Works Department increased the amount of mulch during the reseeding process this year, which helped rejuvenate the surfacing at Dennis Keat Park.
“The City of Cathedral City is a big help by allowing us to host the area tournament, which represents the best teams from each region squaring off to advance to sectionals,” said Reggie Franklin, Region 1200 Commissioner. “Dennis Keat Soccer Park is a great location for the tournament this year as the field is looking very green and nice.”
Sports and health enthusiasts take delight in Dennis Keat Soccer Park, home to the community’s popular AYSO soccer program and Desert Healthcare District’s fitness track and exercise stations.
Improving the quality of Cathedral City’s outside spaces remains a top priority for the City Council. One of the key components that makes parks and outdoor facilities so special is that they’re free for the public to use and provide memorable gathering places for families and people of all ages and backgrounds.
A total of 9 community parks are located within Cathedral City’s boundaries and there’s another on the horizon. City parks and outdoor open space improve our physical and psychological health, strengthen communities, and make our neighborhoods more attractive places to live, work and play.
Dennis Keat Park is located at 69-400 30th Ave, Cathedral City, CA 92234. For more information, please email AYSO Region 1200 at Cathedralcityayso@gmail.com or visit www.ayso1200.org.
