Are you looking for a cool place this summer to beat the heat? The Cathedral City Library, located at 33520 Date Palm Drive, will serve as the official Riverside County Community Action Partnership (CAP) cooling center in Cathedral City. The cooling center at the library will be open June 1 – Oct. 15, 2024, and will have the following hours of operation:
Hours of Operation:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
- Wednesday: 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm
- Sunday: 1:00 pm – 5:00pm
- Friday: Closed
When temperatures are expected to reach 100 degrees or higher, an official heat warning is issued by CAP and the Riverside University Health System of Public Health. In the event a heat warning is issued, all Cooling Centers must officially activate until the temperature subsides or operating hours end.
CAP will supply the Cooling Center with snacks, water, mini fans, etc. The Cathedral City Library staff will supervise and ensure the cooling center is operating as intended. There are no direct costs for the City of Cathedral City to operate the cooling center.
