At the special City Council meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, Nancy Ross, with her husband Bob, son Remington, friends, and family in attendance, took the oath of office to become Cathedral City’s mayor. Current Councilmember Raymond Gregory also took the oath of office with his husband Eric Ornelas by his side and will serve as Mayor Pro Tem. Councilmember Rita Lamb was sworn in for another term next to her husband David after being reelected in November.

Mayor Ross and the entire City Council thanked former Mayor Mark Carnevale for his leadership and service throughout the year. Cathedral City’s mayor position rotates every year starting at the first regular council meeting in December.

On November 3, 2020, Councilmember Nancy Ross was elected to be the first representative for Cathedral City’s District 2. Prior to her election, she served on the Cathedral City Public Arts Commission and on the Cannabis and Homeless task forces. She has also served on Supervisor V. Manuel Perez’ Green Ribbon Commission on Behavioral Health and with Lift to Rise with their affordable housing efforts. Now, as Mayor, she looks forward to continuing to serve both the people of Cathedral City and of Coachella Valley as well as working with both internal and external commissions.
