This spring, as you clean your home, it’s important to stay safe. Two of the top causes of home injuries are falls and poisoning. Take the proper precautions to protect yourself and your family.
When cleaning out closets or re-organizing things, always keep the stairs, steps, and floor area clear of items. Carry loads you can see over and keep one hand free to hold onto banisters and railings. Wear slip resistant shoes to avoid a fall.
Follow the safety recommendations when using harsh products, such as cleaning agents, pool chemicals or pesticides. Wear gloves and masks to protect your skin and respiratory system. Do not mix products together because the contents could react, with dangerous results.
Never use gasoline to clean equipment and never use or store gasoline in your home. Gasoline vapors can explode with just a single spark. If you must keep gasoline for a lawn mower or trimmer, use a sealed safety container. Store the gasoline in an outside location.
At the Cathedral City Fire Department your safety is our priority. Dial 9-1-1 for emergencies.
