“Fountain of Life” Construction Scheduled to be Completed by June 1st
Safety is the number one concern for the City when it comes to our world renowned “Fountain of Life” that graces the center of Town Square Park in Downtown Cathedral City.
Over the years, the water cascading down and its heavy use by children playing in the spray areas has required the City to make some maintenance repairs. Originally, the City was simply going to replace the soft rubber footing around the fountain that prevents injuries when children play. As workers began the process, they discovered that the bowl at the top needed to be replaced as well as several of the underground pipes.
The extended hold-up has been due to the refabrication of the fountain’s top bowl. It is scheduled to arrive around May 1st. Then, workers will begin the task of reattaching the mosaics as well as the installation of the new rubber footing. The reconstruction project is scheduled to be finished on or near June 1st in time for the summer recess.
