PRESS RELEASE: California State Parks Announces Recommendations for $8.8M in Local Projects
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California State Parks announced today recommendations to the National Park Service for $8.8M in funding for 17 local park projects under the Land and Water Conservation Fund Program (LWCF). Grant funding is made available if the National Park Service approves the recommended projects.
LWCF provides funding to cities, counties, eligible districts, and state agencies for acquisition and development projects to create outdoor recreational resources. Under provisions of state law, public resource code §5099.12, the program is administered by the State Parks Director.
“Projects like these enhance outdoor opportunities and bring families and communities together, so we are hopeful that they will be approved,” stated California State Parks Director Lisa Mangat.
Cathedral City
Heritage Park: $1,400,000 – New outdoor amphitheater for citywide cultural events, walking trails, children’s play area, shade trellis restroom/concession, landscape, lighting and fencing.
