“An Evening with Dan Guerrero” – November 13, 2015, 7 pm @ Mary Pickford Theatre in Cathedral City
As the first event for “Taste of Jalisco”, the eldest son of Lalo Guerrero (a.k.a. the Father of Chicano Music), Dan Guerrero will entertain you with his awarding documentary about his father’s musical career. Entitled, “Lalo Guerrero: The Original Chicano” will guide you through seven decades of Mexican-American/Chicano history from Repatriation, the Zoot Suit riots and the UFW to the minifalda/mini-skirt and Chicano pride and prejudice. Guerrero captured it all in a dazzling array of musical genres including rancheras, boogie, tropical, norteño, cha-chas, mambos and beautiful boleros. Rare photographs, historic footage and music performances bring this eclectic tapestry to life.
Dan Guerrero will also provide his own stories about his father through a Question and Answer session following the documentary. Tickets are on sale now for $12 at www.TasteOfJalisco.com. Come learn why the street in front of City Hall is named after the Father of Chicano Music, Lalo Guerrero.
“An Evening with Dan Guerrero” sponsored by the Cathedral City Auto Center.
