Active Transportation Plan Final Draft
The City of Cathedral City has prepared the City’s Active Transportation Plan (ATP). The plan outlines existing infrastructure and travel habits of the community and identifies strategies, actions, and treatments that will create an environment that is safer and more comfortable for walking, biking, and living an active lifestyle. Recommendations in the ATP are designed to ensure that all roadway users, including the most vulnerable such as children, older adults, and those with limited mobility, have safe transportation options to travel as they need and want. The Active Transportation Plan was accepted by City Council at the February 8, 2023, City Council Meeting. Special thank you to Southern California Association of Governments, IBI Group, City Council, residents and stakeholders, and the community of Cathedral City.
As part of the Active Transportation Plan, four maps were created that show all recommended walking, bicycling, wayfinding improvements as well as a proposed dedicated Walk & Bike Loop Network. We invite you to view the Cathedral City Active Transportation Plan & Maps and get excited about the proposed walking and bicycling improvements you may see implemented in your neighborhood soon!
