Cathedral City Fire Department Wins the LGBT Days’ Bed Race for the Third Year in a Row
It’s the team no one can beat! The Cathedral City Fire Department won the fastest time, 19.52 seconds, in the 4th Annual Cathedral City LGBT Days’ Bed Race this past Saturday. This was the third year in a row the fire department team has achieved this special recognition.
The Fire Department faced considerable competition this year from the Cathedral City Police Department, College of the Desert, Cathedral City Administration and the Desert Hot Springs Police Department pushing for the Diversity DHS bed. In fact, the difference in time between the Cathedral City Fire Department team and the Cathedral City Police Department team was less than one second, at 0.76 of a second. College of the Desert bed race team was even closer to the second place position with less than a second away from the Cathedral City Police Department at 0.25 of a second. The Cathedral City Fire Department team won 5 Schwinn mountain bikes, one for each team member, for coming in first. They generously donated the bikes to the Cathedral City Boys and Girls Club.
In the other categories, Team Art, Terry, & Kara of Windemere Realty won two trophies during the competition. With celebrity Bed Rider Ann Walker as part of their team, the group won Best Decorated and Best Themed bed. Runners up in the Best Decorated were the Cathedral City Fire Department taking second place and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence taking third.
Finally, the College of the Desert team won the prize for Most Spirited bed with their enthusiastic display of Pride and team spirit.
