The City of Cathedral City is currently hiring for Firefighter/Paramedic or Firefighter/E.M.T. Starting salaries are Firefighter EMT – $23.68 – $31.00 per hour and Firefighter Paramedic – $27.42 – $35.89 per hour. To be considered in the hiring process, all candidates are required to take the NTN FireTEAM exam. All testing must be completed by June 27, 2021.

The ideal candidate, under general supervision, responds to fires, medical emergencies and other emergency and non-emergency situations and takes appropriate action to protect life and property; performs advanced life support activities in a field environment and various staff support assignments in addition to normal emergency response activities; performs related work as assigned.
Training and Experience:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities in qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
Completion of a California State Fire Marshal accredited fire academy Must possess a valid California driver’s license
Must be willing to work shifts as structured in the Fire Department Must possess CPR Certificate
Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) or Biddle – must be active through 06/27/2021.
Certification as a Firefighter I and college-level fire science coursework and previous firefighting experience is desirable
EMT Specific Requirement:
Must possess current valid Emergency Medical Technician certification (Issued by the State of California Emergency Medical Services Authority and Riverside County Emergency Medical Services Agency; at the time of appointment)
Paramedic Specific Requirement:
Must possess current certification as a licensed California State Paramedic and have availability for accreditation.
Additional Requirements:
NTN FireTEAM Exam (scores accepted within the last six months from closing date – 06/27/2021)
Desirable: Bilingual speaking skills (English/Spanish)
