On Sunday, November 5th, all five City Councilmembers along with numerous City commissioners, staff including Fire Chief Paul Wilson, volunteers and residents participated in the annual Palm Springs Pride Parade. This annual event’s mission is to “promote the public education and awareness of individual rights and civil liberties of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and to promote the history, diversity and future prosperity of the Greater Palm Springs LGBT community.”
The Cathedral City contingent focused on Cathedral City LGBT Days that will occur on March 30 – April 1, 2018. Each councilmember was placed in a float representing the LGBT Days Bed Race that has become the premier favorite of the annual LGBT Days. The bed race allows businesses, organizations, community groups, or just five friends wanting to have a great time to parade down Avenida Lalo Guerrero to win prizes for best decorations, Pride Spirit, and/or best theme. Once the parade is finished, each contingent has the ability to race back to the finish line for the fastest time in order to win the grand prize. The LGBT Days Bed Race is our Pride Parade with a little drama and suspense. For event updates, go to www.CathedralCityLGBTDays.com.
