Cathedral City Police Releases Results of Feb. 2025 DUI/Driver License Checkpoint

Cathedral City Police Department conducted a DUI/Driver License Checkpoint on Feb. 7, 2025, at eastbound East Palm Drive/West Buddy Rogers, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m.

The results of the checkpoint are:

  • 1403 vehicles traveled through the checkpoint.
  • 491 vehicles were screened.
  • 1 driver was arrested for DUI.
  • 2 drivers were cited for driving without a license.
  • 7 drivers were cited for not having their license in their possession.

Checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of DUI crashes and arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.

During the checkpoint, officers look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Funding for this checkpoint is provided to Cathedral City Police Department by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
