CATHEDRAL CITY’S MAYOR PRO TEM GREG PETTIS TO THROW OUT FIRST PITCH TONIGHT AS DODGERS PLAY HOST TO METRO/MSRC NIGHT

LOS ANGELES – Tonight the Dodgers will play host to Metro/MSRC Night (7:10 p.m. vs Arizona). A ticket package that includes a ticket to tonight’s game and a co-branded Metro/MSRC/Dodger Stadium Express T-shirt can be purchased at www.dodgers.com/metro. Fans purchasing a ticket via this link will also participate in a center field recognition prior to the game.

“For a long time, Los Angeles has been deemed a car city, but residents and tourists now get to enjoy a growing and robust public transportation system,” said Naomi Rodriguez, Dodger vice president of external affairs and community relations. “The Dodgers are proud to be a part of this burgeoning movement that is changing the culture, cleaning our air and easing traffic woes, in and around Los Angeles.”

Dodger fans waiting to take the Dodger Stadium Express from Los Angeles Union Station will get to enjoy giveaways and a special Dodger alum appearance by Shawn Green. A pregame Metro activation behind the right field pavilion will also include Metro information and giveaways. Tomorrow will celebrate the Dodger Stadium Express, as well as thank Metro, MSRC and fans for making this reliable and environmentally friendly transportation service a success for more than one million fans over the last 7 seasons.

Metro Board Member and Los Angeles City Councilmember Paul Krekorian, Metro Board Member Jacquelyn Dupont-Walker and MSRC Board members will join MSRC Board Chair Greg Pettis who will throw the ceremonial first pitch. The Dodgers will also recognize Military Hero of the Game, U.S. Army Reserve Sergeant First Class Cesar Trullio of Palmdale, for his 16 years of service in the U.S. Army and 17 years of service as a Metro Bus operator.

“The Dodger Stadium Express operation is truly a team sport and the MSRC is proud to continue to provide the Clean Transportation Funding that is helping to get thousands of cars off the road and has already taken more than a million fans to and from the game,” said MSRC Chair Greg Pettis. “This program not only directly improves our air quality and reduces congestion, but also is giving many fans their first opportunity to try public transportation.”

The Dodger Stadium Express Union Station service is funded by a grant provided by the MSRC to Metro in an effort to reduce vehicle emissions through the clean transportation initiative. Both the Dodger Stadium Express with service from Union Station and the South Bay are free with a game-day ticket. The Dodger Stadium Express Union Station has two stops on site: in center field, behind the pavilions and at the Top Deck, Lot P. Fans can park at Union Station for $7 and take the Dodger Stadium Express from the west end of Union Station. Fans can also board the Dodger Stadium Express Union Station at Broadway and Cesar Chavez, a short walk from the Chinatown Gold Line Metro stop. The Dodger Stadium Express passes automobile traffic by travelling in a dedicated traffic lane along Sunset Boulevard. The Dodger Stadium Express South Bay has five boarding stations in the South Bay and South L.A. This service travels in the Express Lanes of the Harbor Freeway, and then drops off fans in Lot G by the right-field pavilion. Complete details on the Dodger Stadium Express services, route information and helpful tips from Metro can be found by visiting www.metro.net/dodgers or by calling 323.GO.METRO.
