City Council Honors a Hero and 40th Anniversary Planning Committee

With the coronavirus pandemic subsided, the City Council held its first, in-person council meeting in the Council Chambers since last August.  The Council took this opportunity to honor Francisco Enriquez and the Cathedral City 40th Anniversary Planning Committee.

Fire Chief John Muhr gave a presentation about the heroic act that Mr. Francisco Enriquez performed on January 11, 2022 when he arrived on the scene of a traffic collision around 1 am.  The driver of the vehicle was trapped inside while the car was on fire. Mr. Enriquez got out of his vehicle and ran to help the driver.  He was able to free the driver from the burning vehicle and pull him to safety prior to Cathedral City Fire Department arriving on scene.  The driver of the vehicle has since made a full recovery.  On Wednesday, the City Council presented him with a Certificate of Recognition for his heroic act that saved the driver’s life.

The City Council also took this opportunity to recognize and present Certificates of Recognition to the 40th Anniversary Planning Committee for their wonderful work, which lasted over an eight-month period of time, to provide the community with a fun-filled anniversary celebration back in November 2021.  Presented with certificates were:

  • Sergio Espericueta
  • Jo Anne Kennon
  • Thommy Kocan
  • Gary Marshall
  • Shauna McGloin
  • Karen Riley
  • James Thompson
  • Sue Townsley
