On Friday, May 10th, Mayor Mark Carnevale, Mayor Pro Tem John Aguilar, and Councilmembers Raymond Gregory and Ernesto Gutierrez joined Greg Shottenkirk, President and Owner of Shottenkirk Automotive Group, for a groundbreaking ceremony for a new five-plus acre Shottenkirk Desert Lexus Sales and Service Center. The luxury brand will move from its current location on Kyle Road to next to the Volkswagen Dealership on East Palm Canyon Drive and Margot Murphy Way.
Shottenkirk Desert Lexus is already known for its outstanding customer service, such as free manicures while you wait for your automobile to be serviced. However, the new dealership will create a stunning environment only matched by the line-up of its automobiles. City Engineer John Corella stated that the Architecture Review Committee commented that this will be one of the most beautiful buildings ever built in Cathedral City.
Construction is currently under way and the completion date is expected to be in 2020. Once completed, the former Lexus showroom will be taken over by Toyota who plans to expand their presence in the Cathedral City Auto Mall.
Mayor Mark Carnevale presented Owner Greg Shottenkirk with a certificate of recognition for their milestone and working with the Cathedral City’s Economic Development, Planning, Engineering and Building Departments to bring this project forward.
