City Council of Cathedral City Renames Two City Streets in Honor of Two Local Students

Mayor Stan Henry, Mayor Pro Tem Greg Pettis and Councilmembers Shelley Kaplan and Mark Carnevale hosted the unveiling of two new street signs that honors two high school students from Cathedral City for their academic excellence.  The Annual Student Street Naming Ceremonies recognized Mr. Anthony Pacheco of Cathedral City High School and Ms. Stephanie Lopez-Duardo of Mount San Jacinto High School by renaming the street adjacent to their respective schools after each student for one year.

Graduating with an earned 4.6 GPA at Cathedral City High School, Mr. Pacheco has been involved in Associated Student Body all four years of high school.  He served as Vice President of his freshman, sophomore, and junior classes as well as Executive Vice President during his senior year.  Upon graduation, Mr. Pacheco will attend University of Southern California on a scholarship, majoring in Applied and Computational Mathematics.  He hopes, one day, to work in business or a medical field advocating for the LGBTQ community.

A person who can light up a room with her presence, Ms. Lopez-Duardo served as the Student Board Representative for the 2017-18 school year, participated in the Associated Student Body club, and has donated her time for worthy causes related to health.  Upon graduation, Ms. Lopez-Duardo will attend College of the Desert, majoring in Nursing.  She hopes to earn an associate’s degree at College of the Desert, then earn a bachelor’s of nursing degree at California State University.  Her ultimate goal is to receive a master’s degree in nursing to become a Nurse Practitioner.

Congratulations to these students on their well deserved achievements.
