City Council Participated in Día de los Muertos and Palm Springs Pride

Season is upon us!  This past weekend the City Council participated in Día de los Muertos event at the Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City and in the Palm Springs Pride Parade to promote the Cathedral City LGBT Days, California’s First Pride of the Year.

About 500 attendees came to the Día de los Muertos to enjoy organizational booths, LIVE local entertainment, and cuisine from several local restaurants.  The highlight of the event was a beautiful altar to former Mayor Greg Pettis who passed away on January 15, 2019.

On Sunday, the City participated in the Palm Springs Pride Parade in front of a crowd of over 100,000 people and more than 250 parade entries.  Our Pride contingent was made up of Cathedral City residents, staff, and council members.  The event allowed us to promote diversity in Cathedral City as well as LGBT Days coming up on March 27-29, 2020.  Also featured in our contingent was the glamourous Winner of the Cat City Drag Race, Angelique VaGorgeous with her homage to Marilyn Monroe.
