After four public hearings, the City Council selected Redistricting Map Option E for the city council district boundaries to be used over the next ten years. Map Option E was submitted by a member of the public and had the best population deviation of all the maps submitted for each district. Map Option E had only a 1.44% deviation of the districts making each district virtually equal in the number of residents and preserved two districts (District 1 and 4) as majority Hispanic districts.
The City Council moved forward by reading Map Option E into an ordinance on Wednesday evening and the City Council will conduct a second reading of the ordinance at the next council meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 9, 2022. If read a second time and passed by the city council, the district lines of Map Option E will become law.
