City Departments Monitoring Potential Storm/Rainfall Activity for Dec. 21-22, 2023

Please see the latest update from US National Weather Service San Diego California regarding potential rainfall this evening and tomorrow (Dec. 21-22, 2023):

Showers will increase again this Thursday evening ahead of the main storm. The Pacific weather system will bring widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms from Thursday evening through Friday evening, before tapering off Friday night. This includes areas of heavy rainfall from the coast to the desert. A flood watch is in effect for excessive rainfall that could cause localized flooding.

As they do before every forecasted rain event, Public Works crews will continue to check the City drainage structures, historical drainage routes, catch basins and inlets to make sure they are clear of debris and functional.

Cathedral City Fire Department and Cathedral City Police will monitor the storm activity throughout the weekend and assist if that becomes necessary. Please stay weather aware and make sure you’re home is prepared before wet weather arrives. ⬇️
