At last night’s city council meeting, the Council honored Parks and Community Events Commissioner Thomas Kocan for his charity fundraising efforts through “Dinners with Patsi.”
On the third Wednesday of each month, “Patsi” hosts a dinner party at a local restaurant and invites the community to attend. A different restaurant is selected each month. During the dinner party, Patsi passes her hat around calling on the patrons to donate their loose change for a local charitable cause. What started out as a few hundred dollars each month has now grown in popularity and is raising thousands of dollars for worthy causes like the Cathedral City Boys and Girls Club, the Police Department’s Homeless Care Program, and scheduled for next month, the Cathedral City Senior Center.
Commissioner Kocan started the dinners as his way of giving back to the community. He saw a need, a desire to create to a fun activity that brings the community together, and realized that one person can make a difference.
