Cone Zone Alert: Road Improvements for Vista Chino Drive
Starting this month, the City of Cathedral City will fully reconstruct the pavement on Vista Chino Drive from Date Palm Drive all the way west to the city limits with Palm Springs. Crews have already begun work on the $3.7 million project that will install new A.D.A. compliant ramps and curbing at all intersections.
Beginning on January 30, 2017 through June 9, 2017, the actual street reconstruction will occur starting at the east end of Vista Chino Drive at Date Palm Drive and continue to the west end of the City at the Whitewater River Basin. The pavement rehabilitation will vastly improve driving conditions and aesthetics in these areas for our residents and commercial businesses.
Due to utilizing recycled materials that are temperature sensitive, work on this project had to happen during cooler weather, making the months in late winter and spring ideal.
Vista Chino Drive will remain open during the entire process and access to area businesses will continue; however, lanes will be reduced in each direction at times. Alternate east-west routes, such as Ramon Road or Dinah Shore Drive, are recommended if your travel plans are time sensitive. Motorists should expect delays.
