COVID-19 Cases Reducing in Cathedral City

Good News!  Your efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus are working, Cathedral City.  As you “Mask Up to Protect Your Family”, the number of COVID-19 cases in Cathedral City has dropped significantly over the past few weeks.  Not since early June has the number of new average daily cases dropped below 10 per day.

However, now is not the time to let your guard down.  Eight Cathedral City residents have unfortunately died from the coronavirus this month.  Twenty-nine residents have lost their lives since the pandemic began earlier this year.

Governor Newsom is expected to release new data on Friday and offer new guidelines to start reopening businesses sometime in September.  This does not mean the coronavirus is gone.  It means that the spread has slowed.  Each of us has a duty to continue to wear a face covering  outside of our immediate households, social distance at least six feet from others, wash our hands often, disinfect touched items often, avoid touching your face before washing your hands, and staying home as often as you can.

Related, Riverside County notified the City that they will discontinue free testing at the Cathedral City Library on Friday.  However, you can still request a free test at other locations by going to http://gettested.ruhealth.org or by calling (800) 945-6171 and scheduling an appointment.
