Families enjoy unique inviting space outside the City’s Civic Center and Mary Pickford Theatre, so reminiscent of a quintessential town square, plays host to a growing list of festivals that includes the vividly colorful Cathedral City Hot Air Balloon Festival, Taste of Jalisco, Cathedral City LGBT Days, a portion of the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Halloween Spooktacular and Easter Kidapalooza. During the Holidays, families also enjoy the North Pole Village at Snow Fest and the delightful “Candy Cane Lane”, the annual display of seasonal lights mounted by residents of Minerva Road in the Panorama neighborhood. Eight community parks lie within Cathedral City’s boundaries. Sports and health enthusiasts take particular delight in Dennis Keat Soccer Park, home to the community’s popular AYSO soccer program and Desert Healthcare District’s fitness track and exercise stations. Baseball fans gravitate to Big League Dreams Sports Park while ice skaters and hockey players, both amateurs and Olympians, cherish Desert Ice Castle for its high quality sports venue.
Those seeking leisure time fun find plenty at Boomers! Family Entertainment Center where offerings include miniature golf, go-karts, bumper boats, climbing wall and a video-game arcade. Film buffs flock to D'Place Entertainment's Mary Pickford Theatre to enjoy a film in Plush Recliners or D-Box Motion Chairs and Coachella Valley Repetory for LIVE theatre and music. The CVRep Playhouse serves as one of four anchors to Cathedral City’s Arts and Entertainment District. Other anchors include the Mary Pickford Theatre, the Cathedral City Community Amphitheater and the Agua Caliente Casino Cathedral City.
