Today, Governor Newsom released his Blueprint for a Safer Economy that bases reopening on two color coded metrics:
- The number of new COVID-19 positive cases per 100K people and;
- The positivity rate of the county
You can review the metrics and explanations at https://covid19.ca.gov/safer-economy/
You can also look up the guidelines based on common industries: https://covid19.ca.gov/industry-guidance/
Two big changes released today are that hair salons and barber shops may open indoors starting on Monday, August 31, 2020 as well as shopping centers and retailers at 25% capacity for those in Tier 1 (purple).
Riverside County qualifies in the “Widespread” purple category which mandates the most restrictions. Restaurants, museums, movie theaters, nail salons and gyms must remain closed indoors until the community spread of the virus reduces. K-6 schools may request a waiver from the county health officer. All grades above 6th grades including higher education must prohibit in-person classes.
Your actions play a vital role in slowing the spread and allowing more businesses to open by:
- Wearing a facial covering when around others outside of your immediate household
- Social distance by at least 6 feet when around others outside of your immediate household
- Wash your hands often especially before eating, drinking, or touching your face
- Avoid touching your face unless your hands are clean or sanitized
- Stay Home especially if you feel any of the symptoms of COVID-19
- Disinfect commonly touched items like smartphone, remote controls, doorknobs and switches
We will get through this together in a safe and practical manner.
