The 2021 Nine Cities Blood Drive Challenge is almost completed and we need your help. Tomorrow, Councilmember Nancy Ross will be at Palm Springs Motors in Cathedral City at 9 am to donate blood as part of the Nine Cities Blood Drive Challenge. Many of you have already signed up, but there are at least six more appointment slots available for reaching our goal as receiving the highest number of blood donations in the Coachella Valley during this two-month friendly competition hosted by LifeStream.
Just one hour of your time can save the life of a family member, neighbor, or friend. The donation begins with a 30-minute medical consultation, 15 minutes of actual blood donating, and 15 minutes of resting after the blood donation while you drink water and enjoy chips, cookies, or some other tasty snack. Best of all, the blood drive has wonderful thank you gifts for donating.
The amount of blood each person donates depends on their height and weight, but generally is in the range of a pint to a pint and half of blood.
Every two seconds, someone needs blood. Here in the Coachella Valley, especially in the summer months when our population dips by about 30 percent, we experience a local blood shortage and an increased need for residents to donate blood. And that’s why LifeStream is holding its annual 9 Cities Challenge Blood Drive this summer.
Round up the neighbors – donate blood – save a life – make Cathedral City #1!
You can donate this Thursday, August 26th, Palm Springs Motors, 69200 HWY 111, 7:45 am – 11:45 am
