On Tuesday, May 14th, the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce and Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa collaboratively held a Business Education Summit and Think Tank (B.E.S.T.) at “The Show” located in the Agua Caliente Casino in Ranch Mirage. The summit invited business leaders to learn about best practices for success and hear from industry leaders about current and future trends. As part of the summit, area mayors were invited to update the audience on what is happening throughout the Coachella Valley.
Mayor Mark Carnevale spoke about the economic boom that is happening in Cathedral City including the development of our downtown into an Arts & Entertainment District with the newly opened CVRep Playhouse that is experiencing record ticket sales, the new Cathedral City Community Amphitheater currently under construction, and the planned Agua Caliente Casino at the corner of Date Palm Drive and Highway 111. He also touted three new housing developments across the city, increased tourism with our many festivals, investments in our roads and new bridges, over $100 million in private investments in the emerging cannabis industry and the related construction and permanent industry jobs, and the expansion of the Auto Center with the new Infiniti brand and the new Shottenkirk Desert Lexus Sales and Service Center currently under construction next to the Volkswagen dealership. The economic boom has created an unemployment rate as low as 2.7% within the past twelve months.
