Cathedral City is proud to state that two new downtown parking lots are now open for your convenience. Just finished, is the new lot south of the Mary Pickford Theatre that offers parking just steps away from its front doors and ticket box office. You’ll discover several A.D.A. parking spots as well as featured parking for Veterans, Expected Mothers, and Teachers/Educators. These new spots are also covered by solar panels that capture renewable energy while your car stays cool in their shade. Best of all, the new solar panels now complete the Mary Pickford’s solar project making it the first 100% renewable movie theater in the entire United States.
The second parking lot is the newly refurbished and much expanded lot west of Trilussa Restaurant and south of the Fountain of Life. This City owned parking lot will provide ample and convenient parking for those going to Town Square Park, downtown festivals, the Mary Pickford Theatre, and of course, Trilussa Restaurant and other businesses in the Pickford Promenade.
If any of these parking lots are full, you can still park free in the City’s downtown parking garage that provides covered parking from the sun. Additionally, if you drive an electric plug-in automobile, you can charge your car for free while watching a movie, eating at a restaurant, or taking the kids to the Fountain of Life to splash in the summer days and evenings.
Downtown Cathedral City is finally becoming the Arts and Entertainment District that this council stated as its goal just a few years ago. The new Downtown Amphitheater Park will begin construction in August, the CV Rep Theater is currently under construction with a slated March 2019 opening, the downtown casino plans are moving along nicely, and new development south of East Palm Canyon Drive will be announced soon.
