Nineteen Daytime and Nighttime Cooling Centers Available in Riverside County
This week the summer heat will soar near 120 degrees. The Riverside County Community Action Partnership has expanded the number of daytime and nighttime cooling centers to 19 throughout the county including 6 centers in the Coachella Valley.
Thanks to Councilmember Mark Carnevale, County of Riverside County, Coachella Valley Rescue Mission (CVRM), and the Elks Club, there is a nighttime cooling center located in Cathedral City.
Anyone seeking a cool place to stay overnight, can now go to the Elks Lodge located at 67491 E. Palm Canyon Drive in Cathedral City between 4:00 pm and 7:00 am every day. Check-in ends around 5:00 pm. The first 35 people will be welcomed. Bags will be checked-in, each person must shower and be screened for COVID-19. Additionally, each person will be offered a bed, a meal along with cold water, and the ability to pick an outfit from donated clothing.
