Work has begun on the Ortega Road and Sidewalk Gap Closure Improvement Project on the north side of Ortega Road between Campus Lane and Via De Anza. The nearly $500,000 construction project will widen and resurface a portion of Ortega Road, and install four-inch (4”) concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters. This project will also include the construction of residential driveway approaches with the City’s Standard that meets ADA compliance to allow ingress to each property due to the differences in elevation.
Funding for the improvements comes from Community Development Block Grants, a federal program that assists cities in offering viable urban communities with decent housing, a suitable living environment, as well as expanding economic opportunities primarily for low-and-moderate income persons.
All American Asphalt, who recently completed improvements on Dinah Shore Drive, is the contractor for this project as well. Most of the construction work shall be completed by the end of May.
