Residents Provide Input on Vista Chino Road Improvement Plans
On Tuesday evening, the City invited residents to provide input on the proposed road improvement plans for Vista Chino stretching from the east bank of the Whitewater River Channel to Date Palm Drive. The $3.2 million project includes a complete resurfacing of the roadway funded through the gas tax, two assessment districts, and Measure A. In addition, the City is proposing to install environmentally-friendly, decorative medians that require no electrical power or water irrigation.
The City presented the proposed design concepts and sought input of nearby residents on the idea of medians, where median openings should be located, and the decorative nature of their landscape. In responding to a resident’s question of why the City should install medians; staff responded that medians offer an extra measure of safety for those turning left, beautify the roadway, and in most cases, increase property values to homes adjacent.

If you were unable to attend the meeting and would like to offer your suggestions, please contact John Corella, City Engineer at (760) 770-0327 or jcorella@cathedralcity.gov.
Staff will collect all feedback and send the information to a traffic engineer who will create a final draft of the proposed road improvements. Once completed, it will be presented to the community and city council during a future council meeting.
