Supergirl Was A Super Hit at Desert Cinemas UltraMAX Today

Several hundred people joined us for the “Supergirl” sneak preview of the pilot episode which will air one month later this fall on CBS. Attendees were treated to free popcorn and soda, Supergirl posters, Supergirl temporary tattoos, and Supergirl Capes – all thanks to CBS Television Network. Children also enjoyed making art projects courtesy of SCRAP Gallery and its director Karen Riley.

Prior to the sneak preview, Mayor Pro Tem Greg Pettis welcomed the crowd and introduced CBS News Anchor Brooke Beare who emceed the event. Councilmembers John Aguilar and Shelley Kaplan were also present to welcome the crowd.

The audience was inspired by the remarks given by the “Superparents” of the show’s Executive Producers including Gene and Barbara Berlanti, Allan and Judy Adler, and Cathedral City’s Parks and Community Events Commissioner Valerie Schechter. Their collective message was to encourage children to study hard, discover what makes them Super, and to break through the barriers that prevent excellence. It was a message appreciated by all.

Immediately thereafter, a special video welcome by two of the four Executive Producers, Sarah Schechter and Ali Adler was shown as they said “Hi” to their parents from the set of Supergirl along with a special hello to the Cathedral City audience.

Huge thanks go to Public Arts Commissioner Alan Carvalho for the special video presentations; CBS Television Network representatives – Angie Kucharski from New York and Amanda Diedrich Los Angeles; CBS Local 2’s Brooke Beare for emceeing and Kent Kay for providing these great photos; Desert Cinemas UltraMAX Theatre’s Ted Hane and Michael, Chef Hector and wife Petra Salvatierra of Bonta Restaurant & Bar for providing a private reception, and Public Arts Commissioner Tim Parrot, City Manager Assistant Josie Meza and her sons, Cathedral City High School Interact Club, and resident Dough Schmidt for volunteering their time to make it all happen.
